The 9.82 performance of Oblique Seville and his development when it comes to stride length and step frequency
When it comes to stride length and step frequency the development of Oblique Seville has been interesting. These are his season best performances since 2021.

When Seville improved from 10.04 to 9.86 between 2021 and 2022 it was mainly due to a significant jump up in step frequency. Since then Seville has significantly developed his stride length but dropped back down when it comes to step frequency. In his recent 9.82 performance Seville had a 0.049m longer stride length than he had in his 9.86 from 2022. When it comes to step frequency he was however 0.093 hz lower in the 9.82 performance than he was in the 9.86 from 2022.
It is also
interesting to note that Seville back in 2022 actually had two performances
with higher step frequencies than he had in his 9.86 from that year. His 9.88
performance from the Jamaican Championships had the highest step frequency in
any performance with a stride length of 2.050 metres or longer while his 9.90
performance from the semifinal of the World Championships had the highest step
frequency in any performance with a stride length of 2.000 metres or longer.

When it comes to his recent 9.82 performance only Christian Coleman and Trayvon Bromell have had higher step frequencies than Seville had in that stride length category.

Going forward it will be interesting to see if Seville can come close to finding his optimal balance between stride length and step frequency and how fast of a result he will be able to achieve during his prime years.
